Backcountry.com Seeds Gear to Grow

At beginning of May, we received an enormous donation from Backcountry.com. That donation consisted of 30 pallets of outdoor gear. We've since had to expand from a storage unit to a 1600 square foot warehouse. We're now supporting over 25 organizations and adding more daily. Our currently beneficiaries are grateful for all the gear that has been sent there way.

Backcountry.com has also made a commitment to donate all returns that they are not going to resale to the Gear to Grow program!

Thank you so much to Backcountry.com. You've sprouted the Gear to Grow Program!

Cascade Designs Donates to Gear to Grow Program

Cascade Designs Donation

We recently received a large donation from Cascade Designs, the parent company to the MSR, Seal Line, Therma-A-Rest, and Platypus brands. This gear was perfect for our beneficiaries that run river rafting trips. We've already placed a lot of this gear with SPLORE an organization that has been taking groups rafting on the Colorado River for over 30 years. Here's a list of the donated items:
1 BOX SealLine Packs
1 BOX SealLine Kayak goods
1 BOX SealLine Dry Bags
1 BOX Platypus Hydration
2 BOXES Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillows

Second Donation From Founding Donor Backcountry.com

Outdoor Gear

On December 8th, Backcountry.com gave us an early Holiday gift. They donated a truckload of gear to the program. The gear consisted of Winter Jackets, Winter Pants, Goggles, Ski Helmets, Climbing Shoes, Snowboard Boots, Baselayers, Socks, Cycling Gear, Sunglasses, Water Bottles, Men's and Women's Clothing, Hiking Shoes and much more. This gear was quickly donated to our beneficiaries. Within a week, over 400 items have been placed. There certainly is a demand for the Gear to Grow Program.

First Donation to Gear to Grow From Backcountry.com

Backcountry.com Logo

On October 30, 2009, Backcountry.com donated over 1200 Broner brand Winter Hats to the Gear to Grow Program. In less than a week we distributed these hats to CityWILD, Bay Area Wilderness Training, Big City Mountaineers and Leave No Trace. Even we were overwhelmed by the response and need for these hats, especially with the winter season approaching. Thank you to everyone at Backcountry.com who made this happen, in particular, Brian Boyd, who took the time to steer this project to the right people in the company.
